    Brass Transom Latch

    Brass Transom Latch can be used in conjunction with pivoting transom hinges and would mount on the bottom rail of the transom, with the strike plate being mortised to the bottom of the transom's jamb. The latch is operated by pulling up on the loop at the top. (one of our clients suggests mounting a hook to the top of a broom stick to avoid getting on a stool.) The latch measures 2-1/8" wide, 1-1/4" tall, and 5/8" deep (with the loop standing 1-3/8" deep). The strike plate measures 1-3/4" wide, 1-1/2" deep, and mortises 1-3/4" x 3/4"x 3/16" into the jamb. It is made out of solid brass.

    Brass Through Shutter Latch

    Brass Through Shutter Latch. These solid brass shutter latches are polished and lacquered to prevent immediate tarnish. They are intended to be mortised through the bottom of the shutter and hook to their keeper mounted on the window sill. When open they connect to a keeper mounted on the exterior of the home. These latches take the place of both dogs and slide bolts. These latches are meant for use on shutters 1-3/8" thick or less.  Each kit includes the latch, a plate for the rear of the shutter, a keeper for the sill, and a keeper for the wall. One kit will do a single shutter, you will need two kits for each window.

    The latch itself (the part that goes through the shutter) measures 2-3/8" at the top and 1-15/16" at the bottom

    The pull (the piece that you would operate) measures-1-1/4" tall and projects out 2" at the most (latch is 1-3/8" from the plate)

    The plate connected to the latch is 2" wide and 1-1/2" tall

    The plate that goes on the rear measures 1-3/8" tall and 1-1/2" wide

    The sill keeper (looks like bottle opener) is 1-3/4" deep and 1" wide

    The wall keeper (L shaped) is 1-1/16" tall, 15/16" wide and projects 1" from the wall

    Antique Stewart Iron Works Wrought Iron Gate

    Antique Stewart Iron Works Wrought Iron Gate

    This gate, manufactured in Cincinnati, Ohio by the Stewart Ironworks Company, measures 37" wide with the mounting hardware and primitive latch, or 31-1/2" wide as just the gate. It measures 52" tall at the center, and 42" tall at the sides. It needs a weld at the bottom right corner, the top finial is slightly bent, and may need some bondo work at the top left, but is otherwise in great shape for its age.  There is a great makers plaque at the center, pictured in the gallery of images. The primitive latch is still functioning. The gate comes with the portion of the hinge that bolts to your fence post and the rod that attaches your gate to the hinge. The iron details on this gate are exquisite. Please call for a shipping quote if you are interested in this gate as we cannot ship it using UPS.
